Derrick Shannon is a percussion specialist originally from the Chicago-land area. He currently holds the Director of Percussive Arts position at Goshen Community Schools where he oversees two World Class finalist ensembles that actively compete within Winter Guard International. He offers custom percussion arrangements within the marching arts and is a board member of the Midwest Percussion Cooperative, which serves as an outlet for the advancement of percussion in the Midwest.
After marching seven summers of drum corps with groups such as the Phantom Regiment and Cavaliers, both in the battery and front ensemble, he has become the Percussion Co-Caption Head for the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps from Rockford, IL. He received his bachelors in music education at the VanderCook College of Music and his graduate degree in music technology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. His influences include Kevin Lepper, Bret Kuhn, Paul Rennick, Adam Hill, Erik Johnson, Alan Miller, Mike McIntosh, Brian Tinkel and many more.
